The Crossword Mysteries is a series of made-for-television mystery movies that premiered on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries in 2019. The series follows crossword puzzle editor Tess Harper (played by Lacey Chabert) and detective Logan O’Connor (played by Brennan Elliott) as they team up to solve a series of murders and develop a personal connection.
In the first movie, A Puzzle to Die For, Tess discovers that one of her aunt’s friends has been murdered, and seems to be connected to the clues in Tess’s crossword puzzles. She finds herself caught up in the investigation as Logan tries to piece together the clues left behind by the killer.
In subsequent movies, including Proposing Murder, Terminal Descent, and Riddle Me Dead, Tess and Logan investigate a variety of cases that all involve the use of crossword clues as part of the killer’s modus operandi.
As Tess and Logan work together to solve each case, they also develop a close personal relationship, with hints of romantic tension between them. Along the way, they encounter a colorful cast of suspects and potential victims, each with their own secrets and motivations.
